This editorial points to the urgency of the findings of a recent article that reported the higher prevalence of primary open-angle glaucoma in black patients compared with white patients. Given that blindness from this disease is largely preventable, the author urges for physician and patient education about prevalence, detection and treatment of this disease. He ends with a particular plea for the medical profession to "ensure that all black citizens have access to [effective treatment]."
