Differences between black and white patients with cancer of the uterine
corpus in interval from symptom recognition to initial medical consultation
(United States)
Cancer Causes Control 1996;7(3):328-36.
“Although lack women are less likely to develop cancer of the uterine
corpus than are White women, they are more likely to have late stage disease
at diagnosis and are less likely to die of this cancer.”
“Among the eligible patients, Black women were more likely than
White women to have late stage disease. In addition, Black women were
more likely to have had insufficient information collected for staging.”
“These results suggest that time from symptom recognition to initial
medical consultation does not contribute importantly to the more advanced
stage cancer of the uterine corpus commonly found among Black women.”
